The Geography of Hockey sticks

Hockey Sticks

Hockey sticks are usually between 80 and 95 cm and this is restricted as they cannot go beyond 105 cm for safety purposes etc. They were traditionally made of wood and the weight and length of the stick is your own preference but they are regularly 520-530 grams. In recent years the most expensive sticks and ones that are of better quality are made from carbon they can be as low as 25% which are cheaper but less powerful and the 100% which all internationals would have as they would last longer and are more shock resistant and have better qualities than the lower carbon sticks unfortunately they do weigh more than sticks with less carbon but they are more powerful and durable and have a better touch on the ball.
Carbon sticks contain a mix of fibreglass, carbon fibre and aramid fibre, all of these come from the ground made of dead plants and animals.

Most hockey sticks today are produced in Asia: Pakistan, India and China predominately and each of these factories will probably produce sticks for more than one brand.

heres a quick video on how they are made!
